Treasurers Report: - Checking: $1492.88 - CD: $4427.10 Announcments: - John (View): Danny Cooley, retired Abilene Firefighter, passed away last Wednesday. Funeral services were held last Friday in Corpus Christi. Abilene F.D. will be holding a memorial service tomorrow (30 July), 2pm at Elmwood West United Methodist Church on South Pioneer. - Don (M.C.): Keep David Everett's (Albany) father in your prayers. Father had a heart attack last week. - Les (TFS): Bobby Densmann will be retiring from the TX Forest Service. - TFS will be having an Open House Aug 8, 2003 at 1pm. Will be at N 1st and Willis. - Larry (Eula): Citizens and Clyde is submitting a grant proposal for an ECA/EMT course. They need at least 10 people to sign up. FMI - call Diane Cheek at 893-5754. - Gary (ECCA): Burn ban proposal will be made at the Commissioner's Court for Taylor County, July 29 at 10am. - Taylor County VFD's budget hearing will be held July 31, 3pm at the Tay. Co. Comm. Court. - Janel (ECCA): Fires are on the increase. Please make sure you are turning in your weekly fire reports to your county rep. - Roscoe VFD: There will be a service in honor of the patrolman shot 3 weeks ago, Sat Aug 2 at 7pm at the 1st Bap Church. - Lawn VFD: Will be having a Briskett BBQ Sat Aug 2 from 6-9pm. Entertainment will include a live band. - Trent VFD: Drawing for a Deer rifle will be held Oct 12, 2003. Purchase a ticket from any Trent FF or from Hicks' Auto in Merkel. - Hawley VFD: Will be having a drawing Dec 6 for the following; 4 - $1000 cash prizes, TV and DVD players. $50 donation. Contact any Hawley FF for tickets. - Steve (Merkel): Video library has come in. If interested in checking out a video, contact Steve. He is still working on a way to keep track of videos. Old Business: - Don (M.C.): Paperwork for BCFFA training library has been submitted. Les (TFS) advised they had another round, for money left over from TFS grants, today. Should know something by end of week as to who won grants this round. Next round will be in Sep 03. New Business: - Gary (ECCA): New By-Laws proposed for review. Gary motioned to table review/acceptance until next meeting to give everyone time to review proposed changes. Old By-Laws and proposed By-Laws will be posted on web site for review. Motion 2nd by Trent. - Drawing for gloves and hats - MSgt Emerson (Dyess): Discussed including VFD's in Dyess Fire Prevention Week, 5 Oct-9 Oct 03. Will possibly have a chili cook-off, combat challenge, etc. Will possibly have more info next meeting. - Dyess Air Show will be Aug 16 at 10am. - Abilene Fire School will be 18th and 19th of Aug.
