Meeting:

I. Call meeting to order

V. Announcements:

A. Mar 19-22 (Mon-Thurs 6-10pm), TEEX Urban Wildland Interface Class
   in Merkel at Heritage Hall.  Cost is $6-$8 for manual.

B. TECQ has changed its rules governing burning within city limits...
   Owners may now burn within TCEQ guidelines.  May need to consider
   City Ordinance if one not already available (incorp cities only).

C. Any oil placed on threads of fire hydrants need to be Vegetable oil.

D. Gary Y. discussed problems with getting burn bans in effect.  Would
   like any ideas anyone has to implement quicker.

E. Mar 19th will be Taylor County Rural Fire Committee meeting for budgets.
   All concerned need to attend.  Will be in Buffalo Gap at the City Hall
   beginning at 7pm.

F. Clarification on communications while driving...pertains to cell phones
   only at this time.  More to come.



VI. Old Business

A. Corley-Wetzel plaque on hold until next meeting (March 07).



VII. New Business

A. There are several bills in the state senate concerning the fire service...
   Tax exempt on fuel; rules on employers and fire service personnel coming
   in late from emerg calls; Better guidance on hydrants within residential
   neighborhoods; free college tuition for families of fallen firefighters.
   Need everyone to contact their local senetor for support of bills.

B. Looking at 2013 for FCC requirement for all radios to be narrow band.
   Need to start planning now before it's too late.
